![]() ![]() Weight only affects how much stamina is consumed while dodging.ģ.This is actually pretty annoying, since enemies can hear you drop down from surprisingly far away, and back in AC Unity you could wear stealth-oriented gear that made your movements quieter. It doesn't matter if you are wearing the lightest armor and slap on weight reduction runes or if you are wearing the bulkiest, heaviest gear you have-enemies will hear you at the same distance if you jump down/run by them. Weight does not affect how quiet you areįrom my testing, your armor/weapon Weight has no discernible difference to how much noise you make. Stealth only affects the damage you do while undetected.Įvasion only affects how frequently an enemy's attack will do significantly less damage on you (think of it like the critical hit stat, but reversed).Ģ. You can check this in the overall stats menu. *Even though the weapon shadow rune says it increases "Stealth," rather than "Stealth Damage," it only increases stealth damage. I have done some testing, and wanted to share my findings to clear up some misconceptions about stats in Valhalla.Įven though it would ostensibly seem that stats such as Stealth and Evasion would make it so you get detected slower, neither of these stats (whether you get them through the skill tree, equipment stats, or runes*) make you harder to detect. at least, you can't build for stealth in ways that you may have thought you could. In Jotun, the player can walk around fairly vast hand-drawn maps and I was curious at an implementation level how this is accomplished.// Subreddit for news, discussion and more about Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed franchise. I was under the assumption that unlike a game with tilemaps where the character can walk through vast maps/dungeons, a 2D hand-drawn game would essentially limit the character to walking around a limited area (the pre-rendered scene) before pausing to load the next scene.įor example, in Legend of Mana for PS1 the pre-rendered scene is only slightly bigger than the viewport and thus the camera can only pan slightly before the character reaches the end of the scene at which point the game pauses, the next scene is loaded, and the game resumes. I'm a wannabe game-dev looking to build a 2D game with hand-drawn art and I stumbled across Jotun and was very impressed. ![]()
